5 Ways To Keep Motivated With A Busy Work Schedule

I think we can all agree that one of the hardest things to maintain in life aside from a svelte figure is to stay motivated, yes? Even the hardest working individual in the planet loses his motivation at some point. You see, even when you are passionate about something there will always be that one point where you just throw your hands up in the air and say, “I am sick of this.”

However, if you continue to nurture that feeling it won’t get you anywhere and there is a big chance that your career or whatever it is that you’ve decided to give up on, will take a permanent nosedive. And this is what I am trying to save you from. In life, we make dumb decisions especially when we’re burnt-out; decisions that we will later on regret just because we temporarily lost our motivation. The good news is that your motivation doesn’t have to dissipate forever because you can do something to rekindle it even when you are faced with tons of workload.

Don’t turn an ephemeral lack of motivation to a permanent one. Save your job and your career by following these five easy ways to keep you motivated always.


  1. Structure your day and make a list of the tasks you need to complete

This one is practically a life and job saver. I’m not referring to sticking post-its on your computer monitor to remind you what needs to be done but I’m actually referring to a streamlined list organized according to priority. The best thing to keep your motivation on a high is to structure your day ahead. It would be best if you do this over the weekend and lay out your plan for the entire week. In that way, you can see the progress of your productivity each day. And this also makes tasks more manageable.

Structuring your day means you’re setting goals on that particular day of the week; and if you can include time frames that corresponds to each task, the better. Seeing your list ticked off one by one will give you a sense of fulfillment.


  1. While multitasking is good, it might not be effective for everyone.

I hate to break it to you but multitasking isn’t for everyone. But if you’re willing to take the risk you can try it out for yourself. But usually multitasking is a tough job and not everyone ends up victorious. So if I were you, I’d focus on one task at a time. Switching tasks without completing them isn’t going to help you at all in fact it would even fuel more frustration. And frustration is one of the things that kill your motivation. The best way to counter the lack of motivation is to just complete one task at a time. This obviously doesn’t apply when you’re working on an extremely tight schedule especially during month-ends. So the best solution is to go back to number 1, but in this case I urge you to structure your month and if that’s not feasible that at least break it down to weeks.


  1. Create visions for your works’ outcome.

Being a visionary has its perks because it motivates you. Before you start with a task visualize the outcome and remind yourself why it is important and beneficial to you. Doing so helps push you to strive harder.


  1. Give yourself a break and don’t feel bad about it.

Don’t punish yourself. Instead, give yourself breaks from work but just make sure your breaks aren’t too long. Working too much has its drawbacks because it affects your productivity. Regardless of how busy you are or how demanding your workload may be always find time to get a break; even ten to fifteen minutes of stretching or a walk in the patio to clear your head will do.


  1. Reward yourself. Find something to look forward to after completing major tasks.

When you have something to look forward to you’ll get excited about working. It could be a brand new bag, a new gadget or a sleek sofa; whatever it is put it in your head that you have to reward yourself with something you’ve always wanted after all your hard work.

Accepting the fact that your motivation can betray you any minute by going AWOL can really help you to work harder in order to recover it back. When your motivation gets lost just think of it as a temporary thing because soon as you apply these five tips you’ll find a new motivation knocking on your door.
